About Us
Karunai Vizhigal
Karunai Vizhigal is a nonprofit organization, registered under Indian Trust Act in the year 2004. Karunai Vizhigal has been working for the development of children and women from the marginalized, oppressed, and socially excluded downtrodden, vulnerable communities in the Bhuvangiri, Keerapalayam, and Parangipettai blocks.
Objectives:
- To uplift the rural poor through rural development strategies and build appropriate institutional facilities for them
- To empower women, rural poor, marginalized, disadvantaged segments of society through socio-economic interventions and facilitate the implementation of developmental programs, capacity building, etc.
- To provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to the victims of natural disaster
- To provide alternative medical facilities like Siddha, Homeopathy, and Ayurvedic to the community
- To provide legal education and training to the disadvantaged community and to work for their rights like Human rights, child rights, and women's rights enabling them to pursue their rights
- To train and capacitate the target community to increase their income and income earning capacity through skill training and through facilitating the implementation of income generation projects

OUR MISSION
Empowering and developing, bringing sustainable development, enhanced self-esteem and self-confidence of the target communities to build their own environment, necessary structures, and systems, solve their own problems and issues, and have control over the development process.
Our Programs
Women Empowerment
Women empowerment has been one of the priority interventions of Karunai Vizhigal in the Cuddalore district. The development of women starts with empowerment and leads to income generation through savings and credit habits. The Self Help Groups formed and nurtured by Karunai Vizhigal have become the base for the empowerment of women. With 55 women Self Help Groups and 870 members have facilitated the SHGs with networking and linkages built up with government line departments, banks, and Allied systems availing credit, subsidies, government welfare measures, etc.
Livelihood Development
We were supported by RSWR India, as initiated livelihoods cum Income generation activities training for 45 women SHG members in the Cuddalore district.
Livelihood support from INR. 5000 to 10000 has been distributed as revolving credit to the beneficiaries, depending upon the nature of small businesses or micro-enterprises.

Water Conservation Program
Water Conservation Program focuses on cleaning and greening existing water bodies that have vanished or are under the threat of vanishing, keeping villages at a greater risk of water shortage.

Independence day celebration
We celebrated the 75th Independence Day at Cuddalore (D). Hoisted the Indian national flag, sang the national anthem, took part in cultural parades, and many children participated in cultural activities.

Covid-19 support
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic masks, sanitizer, food items, and vegetables were distributed to the people through our Karunai Vizhigal organization.
